Are You Expecting?
Steven Curtis Chapman is one of my favorite singers. He wrote a song a few years back called “Great Expectations”. In that song he reminds us that the great God of all creation has not only made us, but in Christ Jesus, He has saved us, redeemed us and called us to know Him and experience Him in greater depths. He calls us to marvel at His wondrous grace and His mighty works!! Some lyrics from the song go like this:
“We’ve been invited with the Son and we’ve been invited to come and... Believe the unbelievable Receive the inconceivable And see beyond our wildest imagination Lord we come with great expectations”.
Great are the works and purpose that He desires to accomplish in our lives individually; as well as in this congregation and ministry as a whole. It is evident that the time of our salvation is drawing near and Christ is coming soon! But, until that moment, God still has a mighty purpose and works that He wants to fulfill in and through His people! The question is: do we really believe that? Do we truly anticipate the wonders of His grace and power being poured out upon us and a world around us? What are you believing God to do? Do you believe He will do only what we limit Him to do in our finite minds? Or can we believe God to powerfully fulfill this gracious word from Ephesians 3:30-21: “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Can we believe Him to do the unbelievable? Better yet, are we ready to receive the inconceivable? Get ready Church. God is not finished with us yet. A great harvest He has prepared. A great harvest He is sending us into. Times of refreshing and glory are coming! ARE YOU EXPECTING? Lord, we come to You with “great expectations”.
