| Worship at Piqua Assembly of God |
We at Piqua Assembly of God worship the Lord Jesus Christ seriously, joyfully, and enthusiastically. Worship takes many forms throughout our services. Sometimes it is instructed and other times spontaneous. Our faces may show an explosive celebration of praise or perhaps a quiet reverence. Sometimes we sing choruses and other times anthems. Our worship involves music, the Word, praise, and both physical and vocal response. we all carry a responsibility that God will speak through many of us. Scripture is our source of pattern and principle. Edification is our goal. Decency and order are constant watchwords. |

Some Whys... |
Why do we stand to sing?
"And the Levites,...STOOD UP to praise the Lord God of Israel, with a very loud voice." ( 2 Chron. 20:19) " After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no one could count, and every nation and all tribes and people and tongues, STANDING before the throne and before the LAMB, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits on the throne and unto the Lamb." (REV. 7:9-10) |

Why do we clap our hands?
"O CLAP YOUR HANDS, all ye people; shout to God with a voice of joy." (Psalm 47:1)
Why do we lift our hands?
" So I will bless thee as long as I live; I will Lift my Hands in thy name." (Psalm 63:4) " Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." (Psalm 134:2) "Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, Lifting Holy Hands without wrath and dissention."(1 Timothy 2:8)
Why do we have audible praise unto God?
"Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all is within me. Bless his Holy Name." (Psalm 103:1) " After these things I Heard, as it were, A Loud Voice of a Great Multitude in heaven, saying, 'Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God:... And a great voice came from the throne saying, 'Give praise to our God, and all his bondservant, You who fear him, the small and the great,' " And I Heard, as it were, The Voice of the Great Multitude and as the sound of the mighty peals of thunder saying, ' Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns." (Rev. 19:1,5,6) "What is the outcome then? I shall pray with the spirit and shall pray with the mind also; I shall Sing with the spirit and I shall Sing with the mind also,'(1 Cor. 14:14,15)
Why do we sing other languages and in English?
"For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. What is the outcome then? I shall pray with the spirit and I shall pray with the mind also; I shall sing with the spirit and I shall sing with the mind also." (1 Cor. 14:14,15)
Why do we have this type of worship?
"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in Spirit and Truth; for such people the Father seeks to be his worshippers. God is Spirit; and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth." (John 4:23,24) ".....for we are the circumcision, who Worship in the Spirit of God and the glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh." (Phil. 3:3)
Why do we sing Choruses as well as Hymns?
"Also do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking to one another in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God." (Col. 3:16)
What is Prophecy?
"...The Lord God has spoken! Who can but Prophesy? (Amos 3:8) " But one who Prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation." ( 1 Cor. 14:3 )
Why do we Prophesy?
"Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts but especially that you may Prophesy." "But to each is given the manifestation of the spirit for the common good...and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another Prophecy..." ( 1 Cor. 12:7,10 )
